In this semester project course, we look at the scale of bodies in the digital age. The recent shift to remote meetings and online lectures, we lack the experience of bodies in our communication. These digital communication tools do not promote our bodies as means of communication. But the electronics are capable of letting your body submerge in the digital world beyond your fingers.

Let’s give attention to our communicative expressive body and its language. What do we communicate with our body beyond verbal communication? How do we understand others through their bodies? What does the physicality of the body deliver in our interaction?

The course provides a series of E-Textile hands-on workshops that experiments with sensing body movements with soft textile sensors and creating its digital language. We will look into the body language as alternative verbal language, body as a musical instrument, and alter-egos creation through the use of textile/garment language applied in E-Textile design.

We will facilitate E-Textile embed garments to create digitally enhanced language of our body to celebrate our body and its expressiveness.

The course will include 2 weeks of collaborative hands-on workshop with the Spiel und Object course (https://spielundobjekt.de/),,) Ernst Busch hochschule.
