Getting started with generative design. The Rhino Plug-in Grasshopper is one of the profession's leading generative design applications.
We will dive right into the heart of generative design by creating our own design algorithms. Starting with the creation of simple datasets and progressing to more complex data trees, we will lay the foundations for using algorithmic features in your own design projects: From parametric patterns to customized designs to complex data processing and animations. The possibilities are endless!
Living in a physio-digital world gives us the opportunity to intelligently integrate different media and tools into our design processes and hybridise our design workflows. Here we will learn different strategies and shortcuts to bridge the usual gap between digital and physical modelling tools and spaces, synchronising both in a smooth physio-digital workflow to make our work easier and richer. Among the many questions we will ask (and answer!) are: How can we prepare our digital data for manufacturing processes and, conversely, how can we integrate and use materials in digital models and workflows?
